Welcome.

RRO is one of those companies you either love or hate. Some folks have had a really bad time with their customer service, other like me have not had any issues with them or their products. I love my RRO lift, I run 265/70/17 with mine. Not sure if 285's will fit but if you search around the forums I am sure you will find the answers to your questions.

The RRO and the Rough Country are basically the same thing I believe, if you want to avoid RRO Customer Service. (both are all steel)

It really doesn't change the ride since the factory springs and struts/shocks are the same as before, unless you upgrade the shocks and struts (which would change the feel of the ride whether you were lifting or not.)

You're not going to fit 285's without some mods (pinch weld in the front and spacers or new wheels and maybe a fender roll and some longer bumpstops in the rear.)

265/70/17 is about the biggest you can fit and even then some people feel it's too tight and opt for spacers. I had 265's on the stock rims with no real issues though. Just some very minor rub.
