Re: HID Headlights

Ya from what a tech from another jeep site I have been a member for years just broke it down for me. It has a very complex system in the damn head lights. I hear what you are saying about the dealership. I have lots of warranty on this truck. So I'm waiting to find out if this tech says to bring it to his dealership or what not.

Re: HID Headlights

Well they finally got my headlights to work properly. They ended up having to recalibrate the whole truck. And now everything works the way it should. I don't know why they just didn't try this from the start. But I now hope to any of the other users on here if they end up having the same issues with there jeeps and the dealership has no clue on what to do to fix it, that they tell them to try and recalibrate the system to see if that solves the problem. Thanks to all who gave there in put through this whole ordeal.

What (specifically) did they recalibrate? Was it a flash of one or more of the control modules? Mine is doing the same thing... the (OEM) HID headlamps are bright, but do not extend light very far down the road. The OEM fog lamps actually illuminate slightly farther down the road than the headlamps do.

I have a call in to the dealer to see if they can get it in today or tomorrow for the (warranty) fix.

Re: HID Headlights

Hey overland1
I could not tell which control mod they had to calibrate. Have you put a new windshield in? All I know is they had my jeep for a week and they got them working. Ya my fogs were putting out more light then the HIDs. So they are stuck down then. Tell your dealership to just recalibrate the whole truck and see if that helps. But I do have most of the part #s for all the sensors if u need them

I will definitely keep that in mind - thanks for the info. My Jeep goes in at 1030 this morning. By the way, I measured the forward field of illumination from the low beams, and it is 35 feet... certainly not up to par. They are definitely tilted downward; I will post the results as soon afterward as possible.
