Re: HOAT coolant

I got a gallon today from the local NAPA but they had to get it from the warehouse which meant two trips. Good news was it only cost $11/gal.

Re: HOAT coolant

Stuff does kind of look like urine especially after you cut it 50/50 with distilled water.

Re: HOAT coolant

Nope this stuff isn't green at all. More like the color of piss after a night of drinking coors light.

Re: HOAT coolant

Questions:

Is the Zerex G-05 already mixed 50/50? If not, how much do our radiators/reservoirs hold? 1 gallon of HOAT, 1 gallon of distilled water...?

Is this a good How-To???

http://www.castrol.com/castrol/gener...tentId=7011123

It says to fill with water (garden hose) at the radiator cap, but shouldn't we fill it at the reservoir tank?

Or does it not really matter?

Thanks guys!

Re: HOAT coolant

Is this stuff like GM Dexcool, where if you mix it with conventional coolant, it would create a brown sludge? I hope not...Damn proprietary products that are not compatible

Re: HOAT coolant

^^^yeah, I'd say put it in the reservoir, unless you're like 1/2 ful in the radiator and if so, be careful.

BTW - I wouldn't use a garden hose and rather distilled water or something. Some parts of the country may be alright though, but I know in SoCal, we have very "hard" water (although I have a softener and I'd recommend one to anybody who has to live in a similar area )
