Yeah, I think filling from the reservoir is the correct way (for those that have a reservoir).

Even for the rinsing/cleaning? I know to dilute the coolant with distilled water, but I thought for just the cleaner, hard water would be fine.

Re: HOAT coolant

you may be alright for flushing, especially if you use something like the Prestone. I just never use 'hard' water for anything anymore, except watering the lawn and with all the minerals and stuff in it...However, in the past I've used regular hose water on other cars without issue...guess it's more of an "ideal" thing.
