Im just curious, WHY? Carbon fiber is strong, so you cant be worried about the strut pushing on it too hard. Does it shoot up too quick or something? And what I would of done if your serious about wanting a used one, measure it and go to the junkyard and find a similar part. I luv the junk yard, too bad there's no WK's yet in any of the ones around me.
And where did you get the hood? Its kinda cool looking. Have any close up pix?
you need a weak strut due to the weight difference. CF hoods weighs about 11 pounds. factory hood weighs about 35 40. so if you use a 'ggod' wk strut, it puts way too much force on the hood. like you pop the front to open it, the thing rips out of your hand.
further, these regularly fail on the wk so it makes perfect sense to ask for someones old one.
heck, when yours go bad, wouldnt you like someone to pay 10-15 for something that costs about 20 new! black pepper sold his for 20 shipped...............
The performance shop doing my engine swap is owned by a Chrysler/Jeep dealership and so I got a worn out one thru them for my CF hood, free. I told my contact to start saving them and we could make some money on the side. LOL!
They're waiting on my hood to show up before checking if the failed one will fit or not. My friend there is on vacation until next Wednesday, so I'll check into getting more.
