I'm also curious about this. I've seen someone say "depending on what you read, you may lose 3hp" but haven't found anything myself. I'm trying to get a DSP too, and am hitting my 100k tune-up soon. Thinking of going shorty if I can tune for it.
I've had the Taylor Shorties on my Hemi LX for over 5 years now, with no problems. To answer your questions though:
1. You'll only notice a difference in fuel economy if the existing long wires are old and have higher resistance than normal....significantly more than ~12000 ohms for a 3 foot length of stock wire.
2. There will be no difference in the operation of the MDS, again unless there was an engine performance issue prior to installing the shortie wires. You may want to consider installing an MDS "ON" Light that I came up with back in 05, over on the LXForums.com. It's under my screen name, "magnuman" over there. The wiring is the same on the WK Hemi and the install is actually a lot easier than on the LX. Here's the link: http://www.lxforums.com/board/f88/installation-mds-indicator-light-11575/#post55813
3. No problem using the Superchips or the Diablosport tuner. I use both on both my Hemi vehicles.
JeepGComan : Thanks you very much for answering my questions ! I installed the MDS "ON" light last year after reading your thread on the LXForum. Thanks for that too !
Brunality : I've read that we can loose 0 or 1 or 2 but its not noticable. You can also gain MPG (and HP ?) if your old wires have an increased resistance...
I'll order the shorties and post photos after installation.
I got the taylor shorties love them took off engine covers and added chrome hemi valve covers, I got a threads with pictures look for engine dress up pics.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
