Re: ??How to tune a MSD Dashhawk??

Yeah the dashhawk isn't a tuner - it just monitors/displays engine data via the OBD-II port.

Re: ??How to tune a MSD Dashhawk??

The above posts are correct....it is not a tuner. I have them on both my Hemi vehicles, set up differently. As far as setting it up goes, it's really quite easy once you decide what all you want to monitor. (You can work off line and set it up.) At it's maximum, you have 11 screens and you can monitor up to 7 items (PID's) on each screen. Most of mine are set up to monitor 2, 3, 4 or 6 items, or graph 2 items. The biggest problem is deciding what all you want to monitor and making sure your selections all work on the WK. Some are generic and will work, and others won't, as they're designed for other vehicles, or the WK doesn't support the selected item. You'll get a N/A when that is the case. Some items are also for diesels, which obviously won't work on a gasoline WK. I set some of my screens up with redundant items, depending on what I am trying to monitor. I have found it easiest to set each screen by a particular catagory. I have one screen that is set up globally.....engine coolant temp. (ECT), fuel level, intake air temp. (IAT), ambient air temp. (AAT), oil pressure, and module voltage. The others are: graphs for advance and knock retard, and engine coolant and trans. operating temp.; time and distance functions; knock sensor and related; EGR and related; pressure and vacuum; DTC/MIL codes and related; fuel management functions; transmission functions; and fuel instant/average MPG and GPH functions. Also, don't expect to get it just the way you want on the first try. Initial setup and function verification may take a couple hours, between the computer and the vehicle. Save each setup (I use the current date for a name) and each time improve off the previous setup. You may find a need to change things later, once you've used it for awhile. This should give you some ideas and get you started. I am currently on my tenth version, which I changed when I had EGR problems. Hope this has helped. If you have any problems or questions, let me know. One last thing, make sure you have the latest (ver. 2.51) software installed.

Re: ??How to tune a MSD Dashhawk??

Shoulda kept it and got a Predator. I have both the DashHawk and the Trinity, and use the Dashhawk for 100% of my monitoring. The Trinitys monitoring is no good. I use it for logging and tuning, thats it. Otherwise, its the Dashhawk thats hooked up to my port.

Re: ??How to tune a MSD Dashhawk??

I have a dash hawk in my 07' WK and in the 09' Mustang. Would have one in the 04' WJ too but unfortunately the OBD isn't compatable. Although they are not tuners, I do find them to be worth having to keep an eye on things.

AMEN, Mike and Joe....the only way to go IMO. Never have to wonder what's going on now. It's all right there.
