Re: I Found a Shop That Can Replace WK U-Joints…

That's a good deal, but if the shops fixed it there's a way for us to do it with nice fresh Joints installed.

So here we go u joint fix 2.0. The steel side has no problems at all. Just the aluminum side where i couldent weld. So now i drilled 3/16 ths holes in the yolk housing right infront of the little lip next to the cap hole. Used 1/4in bolts and a large diamiter washer with locktite and two nuts on the other side.

Re: I Found a Shop That Can Replace WK U-Joints…

I wonder if a couple of drops of JB weld would hold it in there ?

Re: I Found a Shop That Can Replace WK U-Joints…

Yeah, and remembering back those joints that were glued in were quite a pain to disassemble. The glue held so good I used to heat them that caused the glue to expand out, and come loose.

Not keen on the drilling and causing a possible weakness and stress point. You have to ask yourself if saving the money is worth it should it let go and go flying around at 70 mph against the floor and fuel tank! Friend of mine lost his mate when the drive shaft dug into the ground flipping the 4wd onto his roof and killing him in the sand dunes.

Well maybe im crazy. But it dosent really worrie me at all. Its gunna vidrate befor it lets loose and thats when u pull over. Lot of ppl said that it wouldent work cuz i will never get it centered perfitly? So what if it not centered perfitly if it dosent vibrate its fine. Think about when u replace a ujoint on a old rusty truck. When u pound the caps out the yolk is deff getting bent, so u bend it back close and its always fine. And the joint i replace is on the diff side so if it did drop its not gunna flip me just smash up the underside. If u have ever held a wk shaft in ur hands its like tin foil. Cant see it fliping a 4500lb suv over
Sorry for the rant lol
