I love my Jeep again...

Well, it's been a long road, but I finally have my Jeep exactly how I want it. 2010, QDII, 5.7L, Limited

What I expected to fix when I bought it at 72K miles:

-Fluids for diffs/transmission/transfer case
-Tires/alignment
-Spark plugs
-Air filter
-Oil

What I ended up doing in addition:

Lower control arms ($1800 estimate, got it done for $600 or so including parts)
Transmission front pump main seal ($WARRANTY$ $175 for rental car though while at the dealership).

Anyway, just put some Destination LE2 tires on today, and it makes me smile. It is now doing EXACTLY what I want it to, and doing it well. I think it looks good, also, although that's personal of course.

All I have put them through is rain. They did very well. Heavy heavy rain. Absurd rain. Visibility equals 45 mph highway speed rain. They are quiet enough and feel very supple. My Bilsteins feel soft to me now after ditching my 2009 73k mile old goodyear fortera. But that's due to tread squirm vs. Bald. It's normal.

Re: I love my Jeep again...

Just curious. What did you do to lower control arms? Replace or rebuild them? And why?

Glad to hear you got things squared away. Now go take all your jeep hater friends for a ride and make them jealous.

Well, it's not completely squared away anymore I guess. It shudders and vibrates every time it drops out of fuel-saver mode and goes up a hill in cruise control and my friends who ride in it are all "WTF!?". Maybe tq converter. Maybe any other number of things. Nah, this thing ain't making anyone jealous, and the haters were right, but as long as the pile moves under its own power, I'm done putting money into it. Live and learn, never a Chrysler again. Bleck!

Subaru Forester 2.0XT
Ford Explorer Sport
FJ Cruiser

Those are the vehicles on my short list the next time this thing has a problem that could lead to imminent stranding/expensive maintenance. For now, I'll live with it.
