Re: IED or SpareTire TPMS Solution - You be the judge

Man if its not one thing its another! So im guessing i did a bad job installing the resistor from the Transgo shift kit. Today out of nowhere the engine light comes on and the tranny gets all crazy. By the time i get where im going there's a faint smoke coming from under the jeep. Come to find out 1 of the 2 lines running into the tranny was apparently leaking and dripping (or spraying) fluid onto the cats. So i rush home and remove the resistor and make sure everything is nice and clean. Disconnect the battery and pump the brakes. Start her up and all is fine. Im going to install the sonnax in line pressure booster this evening. The Transgo one im sure is fine, but it's tight to get a soldering iron in there and being so close to the cat i'd rather just use something that plugs in! It was fine for 3 days, but its raining today, im guessing some water got into my splicing job

Good news though, my srt8 sway bar and new front end links arrived today. Hopefully the bilsteins show up later today or tomorrow.

I know, totally unrelated but just wanted to vent

Re: IED or SpareTire TPMS Solution - You be the judge

A minor update, i finally purchased a tire gauge. I put about 36 psi in there and it held, for now at least. Going to check it when i get home from work. If it's still at 36 or so i'll throw it in the back and see what happens. Hopefully setting it in that little storage bin will get it close enough. this is all assuming my transmission is finished today. I'll let ya'll know

Re: IED or SpareTire TPMS Solution - You be the judge

If you dont have a spare tire the display that usually shows the temperature and direction constantly says "LOW SPARE PRESSURE". I have SRT8 exhaust so i dont have a spare with me. Others with larger tires also do not have a full sized spare mounted below and they run into the same issue. This should allow the sensor to output the correct pressure signal to the pcm and the light should stay off, in theory of course. For $9 it was worth a shot

They've been there about 2 months just sitting with the discounted wheels. They say they are some type of camaro replica wheel (at 4wheel parts?!) and are not the srt wheel. The thing is i didnt see SRT etched into them and the center cap seems to be slightly convexed to a point. Nothing extreme, maybe .25" projection. I havent seen srt wheels closely enough to notice these details. I think he wants them to sit until they really drop the price and then snatch them! Aww conspiracy theories!

those are the IROC-Z replicas bro. they are very similar to the SRT's. As a matter of fact...00WJ has a set on his WJ. The offset is a little off....but not much and thye look awesome on his wj.

Re: IED or SpareTire TPMS Solution - You be the judge

That's weird they have them at a 4wheel parts! How'd they end up with them?! Guess it doesnt matter im fine with my stockers for now. I just need an effing transmission! It was supposed to be done Wednesday, then Thursday, then Friday, now Monday. It has been a month since i first dropped it off for the rebuild and still not fixed. He has until 11am Monday or i'm asking for my $$ back. All of it. And i dont give a **** if he keeps the tranny and all the parts in it. Just give me back my friggin $$ and i'll buy a new complete tranny from Sharadon and have someone else install it!

Re: IED or SpareTire TPMS Solution - You be the judge

On a topic related note, this plastic square lost pressure. Today i bought a 1.5" thick x 4" long pipe threaded on both ends. I used rtv and sealed up one end, will do the other end tomorrow. I took the valve stem off of the tpms sensor, so if it somehow reads the pressure without the valve this should work. I wonder why theres a little metal tab screwed into the valve stem though, i guess grounding for something?

Re: IED or SpareTire TPMS Solution - You be the judge

Im replaceing the TPMS valves with regular old valves this week when I have new tires mounted, the light is on 24/7 anyway, the valve threads on my stock once corroded and broke off, and I cant see paying 100+ for new ones, they are useless IMO.

Re: IED or SpareTire TPMS Solution - You be the judge

Do the TPMS remotely transmit the pressure data? My 05 has sensors but I only get a light when a tire is low. I can't see the pressure of each wheel in the EVIC. I'm just curious and I don't really know how they work or what the difference is between the TPMS/EVIC that will display precise tire pressure and mine. Was that not an option in 05? Assuming they remotely transmit, won't the battery die eventually?

Also, regarding this:

Nope, no SRT logo embossed in the SRT8 replicas from factory reproductions.

Nope, no SRT logo embossed in the SRT8 replicas from factory reproductions.

there are two versions of the tpms systems on the wk. the "highline" versions displays the current pressure from each sensor on the evic. The "lowline"(LOL) version only alerts drivers to a low pressure once below a certain threshold...I believe 29 pounds of pressure.
