if i remove the light bulb......

hi , so i have looked through the posts about the tpms removal etc , ... but found no clear answer on if you just remove the bulb , ( i read its soldered on )
but once removed , it will no longer show a fault in the pressure , however , what will show ? will the cel stay on because the bulb is removed , will it just "ding" on startup ? ... will the car go into limp mode .... what will happen , if i can find someone in saskatoon who has the code reader that can turn off the system to monitor the tpms then i will , but as far as a poor mans fix .... i just bought this car , and replaced a sensor at canadian tire , ($155) .... and the mechanic said the batt voltage in the others were low , well one week later the light is on again , so im just removing the sensors next tire change , ... so just what will happen by removing the bulb , or should i just paint it black and leave it in the board .
cheers

Re: if i remove the light bulb......

I don't know about your system but there are 2 versions of the TPMS, 1 that just gives low pressure warning & 1 that tells you the pressure of each wheel

I have the latter so if I removed the bulb, it would still keep telling me in the EVIC that the pressures are low, whether the bulb is there or not

There was a recent starscan update to allow dealers to disable this feature for 'winter tyre mode' so if you know someone at a dealer, they should now be able to do this.

Failing that, if you can get your hands on a copy of CDA, plus the hardware required yourself (I don't think any dealer has this outside of USA), you can completely disable it.

Another alternative would be to get your dealership to remove the sales code for TPMS & reflash your ECU / PCM but this is not a route I would recommend

I don't know what the non-premium version of the TPMS is like as we don't have them in the UK but for the sake of pulling the cluster, removing the bulb seems a fairly logical route or if you think this could lead to other problems, just paint / tape over it
