It's pretty loud while cruising for my tastes. It sounds awesome when I'm on it but a bit too loud when just driving. I can imagine that it will get louder once it breaks in. Will adding another resonator after the muffler quiet it down much? I left the factory res at the back so I am curious if I can quiet this beast down a little.
Sorry it's a Hemi. Guy at the muffler shop suggested adding a res after the muffler so that's why I'm asking here. I don't want to make it worse, just a bit quieter. Maybe taking the 18 out and putting a 22 or 24 in would be better?
Yeah stock resonator is still there. I guess I'll have him order me a 22 and see what we can work out. If not I'm sure I can sell the 18 and get some of my cash back.
do some searches in this site on magnaflow to get some better ideas of what the others have done. you arent the first to tackle this so HOPEFULLY you can get some exact answers. also remember everyone has different levels of tolerance for the drone.
I have 22 magnaflow into duals, no resonators... sounds great when ya get on it.. a little drone... but i just put the radio up 2 more clicks... oh '06 5.7 hemi
Do you happen to have a sound clip of how it sounds? I am putting the 11226 magnaflow on next week and it's a 14" body 20" overall. I heard how it sounds with the stock resonator on the 5.7 on youtube and thought it wasn't too loud. I want a nice rumble at idle and acceleration too. nothing too loud except when i punch it.
I don't have a sound clip and I think they are misleading. We all have different ideas of what is loud but I can assure you that this 18" is pretty loud when you get on it but you will also hear it just driving or cruising on the highway. I have decided to keep it though since the truck is running so good with it. I might change it after summer, we shall see. I definitely couldn't do a 14" so good luck.
I had the new muffler put on tonight. It sounds a lot louder in the video then in person because i had the camera so close to the exhaust. It's quiet when I want and loud when I want and that's what I was looking for. noticed a 1.5mpg gain on the highway coming back from Reidsville too. If I didn't drive the exact same route both directions and the same speed with no differences in traffic, resetting the average gauge both ways I'd say no way but that's the facts. I've had compliments galore on it since I got it on.
