It's Tire Time

So, I need new tires for my jeep and have finally decided to get serious in the search. I do mostly road driving, to and from school, and errands on the weekend, so not too much, and I do go Jeeping about Once a month. So I want a decent All Terrain/Mud Terrain Tire that can preform on street, and offroad without killing the already horrible milage my WK gets.
So I've called and gotten quotes from a local tire place for the following three tires for my currently stock 3.7 V6 WK. I chose to get quotes on the:

Wrangler MT/R
BF Goodrich A/T
BF Goodrich M/T KM2

Should I call back for quotes on any other tires, such as Nitto Terra Graplers?
So which tire, and size would fit me best (1.5-2" lift in the future)?
How many inches are the Jeep rims stock 17"?

Thanks!

firestone destination A/T FTMFW

they are the best rated A/T tire on tire rack and WAY cheaper than others.

Re: It's Tire Time

I love my terra grapplers they are very quiet on the road and they have a nice agressive tread and they also have sidewalls designed to give you some extra offroad traction. They are also a very highly rated tire as far as an a/t tire. I'm running a set in 265/70/17 on my stock wheels and I'm also lifted 2 inches. To allow that size to be used I had to install a set of 1.25" wheel spacers but they fit fine and don't rub at all. I will add that I got a pretty good installed price of $660 for all four including life time rotate/balance and road hazzard. Check them out and maybe add them to your list of choices. I know I'm happy with mine.

Re: It's Tire Time

I love my General Grabber AT2's. Great tire, cheaper than the BFG, lighter in weight than the BFG and an all around great tire. I can't recommend them enough.

Re: It's Tire Time

I have the lift and the spacers currently installed. I do believe you have to have both in order to use that size tire. Ill see if I can upload a picture of my jeep.

Lol don't think they make those yet. I'm pretty sure it's advertised as 2", gives you around 3".

Re: It's Tire Time

Will Wrangler MT/Rs in size LT245/75/R16 fit the stock rims on the 4x4 Laredo?

Re: It's Tire Time

Just put General Grabbers AT2's on my 05' 4.7 and couldn't be happier. These replaced the Firestone Destination AT's I had put on the year before. Very disappointed in the Firestone's

Re: It's Tire Time

Well, guys, I think I have decided to go with the Destination A/T for the moment. I wont be able to do alot of offroading soon, so they seem good, and cheap enough to fit the bill of a tire that does great on road, and decent off. I just cant stand the look of general grabbers.
