Brought home my new jeeep today, a white 2005 jeep grand cherokee laredo, now i guess its time to start the modding process. Any ideas or suggestions on some quick and in-expensive mods to start off?
Welcome and congrats!
My first mod is in dash dvd/nav system... but a shorty antenna and new door locks are on the way and were inexpensive. Check out the vendors.
yeah im going to get it tinted next week when i have off. but im probaly going to plasti dip my emblems first..butt im a bit nervous to just spray the plasti dip on, it wont mess up my paint right? since it just peels off?
i plasti dipped my emblems, that stuff is harmless on paint... there are several ways to do your emblems... look around on here you will see some pretty good how to's
congrats on the jeep, tint your windows then black out your emb's!!!
Welcome and congradulations on your jeep purchase! I have an 05 as well. Lots of mods available. Depending on your willingness to do the work yourself, whether or not you have a garage or place you can work on it and the tools you have there are alot of relatively simple and inexpensive mods you can do. Converting to HID headlights and fogs were my first mod. Haven't stopped since! This forum is a good place to spend some time doing your research and the members will help with input along the way.
The only advice I have is think about what you want to do for a bit then once you have an idea of what you want your end result to be, start modding and never look back. Oh yeah, and you might aswell just burn your bank statements as they are not gonna be something you want to read...lol
a question on the HIDs, how do you know which ones go with your jeep? when i look online theres ones from 6000k-30000k.. does it matter? is it just the brightness of the lightt, or is there a different reason?
its the color (temperature in kelvin rating) of the bulb. at 6000k you're already a little blue, for a crisp "DAY" look go for 5000k (down at 3400k you're yellow, which some people use for fogs.
That is the color temp of the bulb. 3000K is yellow, 4300K is going to be white/brightest - as you go up in K, you lose lumens (output). Most people go with 5000K or 6000K to keep a good amount of output with a slight hint of blue for looks.
I have 6000's on my lows and fogs and they look sick! Not too blue not to yellow..perfect. My first mod was tint, then i painted my calipers...so easy to do and very inexpensive!
Congrats! I demand some pics! Tint would be a great mod on a white jeep. There are so many mods you can do to these things... And also welcome to one of the most valuable Jeep resources on the internet!
