That sounds like your torque converter is draining over time. This could be normal (if the delay is very short after the vehicle has been sitting for a while), or indicative of a problem with the spin-on type filter in the transmission pan. Have you had your trans serviced and these filters replaced? Some of the 2005's had a defect in this filter that would cause the symptoms you describe.

We're in Sydney Australia and received the recall letter from Chrylser Aust last week.

It states...

'The recall has not been officially released in the US as yet but the Fiat Chrysler Group have taken a precautionary measure to notify all owners of the upcoming recall which is due to be released July 2013.

Owners will receive a 2nd letter explaining the official release once we have confirmed the launch.

To date the only occurrence of inadvertent gearshifts into neutral have been in vehicles fitted with remote start-up function which is only available in the US'

Re: Jeep Recall

Has this recall in addition to the recall for the older grand cherokees for the gas tank issue? I have a 97 Grand Cherokee and an 08.

Re: Jeep Recall

Does anyone have details about actual incidences or accidents of this fault. About a year ago, I parked under my carport at home without turning the engine off yet. I looked up and was rolling forward into a wall. I nudged it a couple of inches before quickly hitting the brakes & reversing out of it. I was returning home after a long graveyard shift at work & was pretty cashed, so I just thought that I spaced putting it in park & let off the brake & coasted. not too much damage to the wall or the vehicle. I had some good spiderwebs in the center of the bumper that I just masked off & covered with matte black Plasti-dip. Could this have been a result or a similar incident causing the recall?

Re: Jeep Recall

Chances dealers will also update TCM/PCM for a reduced cost or free since they're going to be updating anyway?

Re: Jeep Recall

I would think this 'repair' is going to update the PCM to the newest software if you just let them do the recall.

I think the TC shift actuator is controlled by the PCM. If that's the case, they are going to have to flash the whole thing with the newest software regardless (since they aren't going to fix each earlier rendition with added software, and just upgrade everyone with the patched software).

If it is the FDCM that they are flashing, I suppose it is possible that they could do one without the other. Hopefully once the official notice comes out they are more specific on what part of the software they are fixing.
