Re: Jeep Recall

Got both my notices...one yesterday and the "call the dealer" one today. I'll try to make an appt. for a week or two out.

BEWARE: Anyone with a tuner installed, REMOVE IT BEFORE YOU TAKE IT TO THE DEALER....just in case they update the PCM/TCM. If you don't, your tuner will no longer work and it'll cost $$$ to get it reset by the tuner manufacturer. I am going to love driving mine with the stock settings. It hasn't been that way in at least 2.5-3 years. Should be interesting.

Re: Jeep Recall

bump...

and.... i hope this is the tsb problem...

happened a few times now... put the jeep in gear, reverse or drive and there is a delay before it goes into gear, like 2-4 seconds...

the other day i rolled down the driveway in reverse and when i went into drive it stalled with a big clunk, almost like the tranny or transfer case kicked in and the torque converter was locked, because the motor stopped immediately...

this sound familiar to anyone ?

Re: Jeep Recall

Mine has never stalled, but it has on occasion had quite a long lag when I put it in reverse.

Not sure your specific issue is related. Have you ever had the trans serviced? What brand trans filters did you use?

You can actually get your rig to turn over and run on the stock tune!?! We have similar mods and I can't run the stock tune at all.

Re: Jeep Recall

Took mine in yesterday for tranny fluid dump and fill and when I picked it up, SA said they took care of a tranny recall issue and a tranny software update. Wasn't listed on my ticket, so not sure exactly what they did, but it does seem to shift a little smoother.

Re: Jeep Recall

Yes, they reprogram the FDCM. Not the PCM like I had hoped.

I called a few dealerships to see if they would cut me a deal on the PCM reprogram (to fix a known TSB) given they were already going to be hooked up. They all said absolutely not and that they would charge an hour labor. Pretty laughable considering it takes them 20 minutes max to reprogram.
