Basically, the connections in one of those two places get old and corrode, etc over time. Apparently this causes our gauge clusters to go crazy and headlights turn on/off, radio on/off, all gauge lights on, etc.

Mine was the MF stalk and I did the replacement and haven't had an issue since.

Also, if you search "multifunction" in the "how to/DIY" section, there is an install guide for adding fog lights to the WK, which requires the upgraded MF stalk with the fog light switch pull out. The pictoral guide is very useful and will show you that the job will take 10 min.
Actually I had a similar problem happen to me today. My lights and dash started blinking like crazy and then just shut off. People were looking at me like I was nuts. My lights have done this a few times now. Also the automatic headlights dont work either, they just stay off, and neither do the rain sense wipers. I went ahead and ordered a sun sensor but I'm not sure if that's it. Could it be the MF switch? I have also installed a lockpick recently so I am not sure if thats causing an issue but I know the auto headlights and rain sense wipers stopped working shortly before I installed that.

I don't remember if my rain sense wipers were affected because I was more freaked out about all the other crazy things that were happening at the time. However, all of the other symptoms were identical in my situation: Christmas tree effect of all warning lights, headlights off/on, radio off/on, auto headlights refused to work, but thankfully the vehicle stayed running...I'd gander a healthy guess that you need a new MF stalk (it fixed all my issues instantly and has never resurfaced). It seems like more and more people are showing up with this issue recently...

Luckily when I called to tell them about this I spoke directly with the service manager and at that point I think they were willing to try anything. They had had it for almost a week and still couldn't figure it out. Anyway, they installed it yesterday and I got her back last night. So far, so good.

My wipers did stop working when this occurred to me. The reason I know that is bc it was raining when it happened!! My left blinker was stuck on. Not sure how the headlights were affected - I think they were still on. When I parked it at work my remote would not lock the doors, so I had to use the inside button.

Well hopefully this fix has you sorted. Some dealers are more apt to listening to "forum" advice than others...

I realized my wipers stopped working bc it was raining here too. My remote doesn't work well anymore either so I it looks like I will have to buy a new switch.

Tried it and the Mf switch did not resolve my issue. What should I try now?

Try a new ignition switch.

How do the ignition switch, the auto headlamps, and the rain sense wipers relate?

It's tough to explain but basically when the switch is on and is malfunctioning it will switch on and off and will cause random failures. It's 49 bucks I'd just replace it

Ignition switch didn't solve it. However over the last few days the headlights haven't been flickering and the only issue is the auto headlamps and rain sense wipers

Just an update. Been two weeks since my MF switch was replaced and no issues since.
