Re: Jeep Recall

There is another thread here (4wd low problem) that already addresses this issue, but given this was the first thread I noticed when looking for info about the recall, I feel it appropriate to reiterate here.

I typically would not suggest others go elsewhere for their Jeep info because this site is incredible. I don't venture anywhere else when I have questions about my Jeep. But for just this once I would urge people here to if nothing else Google regarding this issue. If you do, you will find 1000s of posts on other forums with people's testimonies regarding the failure of this recall. Frankly, I'm surprised it is not more prominent here.

If you have not yet gotten the N23 recall, I would suggest you do your research first.

If you have gotten the recall, I suggest you attempt to put your Jeep in 4LO if you have not since. There seems to be a direct correlation between getting the recall and losing the ability to enter N or 4LO on the transfer case.

I personally will not be getting the recall done as there have just been too many people to report the same problem. I suspect this is not a more widespread issue because not everyone uses N or 4LO on a frequent basis to notice.

I hope if nothing else, this post saves one person from involuntarily going through the back and forth, dealer ignorance, and hopelessness that others have already been through facing this problem.

I had the N23 recall done, and aside from the possibly related almost immediate failure of both my F/R Driver's side ABS Wheel Speed sensors, everything is working as it should. I engaged 4WD LO just yesterday in the snow and the recall was now completed months ago.

If it wasn't for reading that thread back when I was getting ready to have it done i would have done it. They are not touching my jeep. Guys that are having it done are have major problems with no end in sight. Just think of how many people who have not put their jeep in 4lo. That is when it throws a 4 wheel service code. If you have not had it done yet don't and read that thread. Chrysler still does not admit that there is a problem. It is a major mess.

That's interesting, because my dealer told me the opposite when I brought mine in with issues. They told me that Chrysler knew that the updates were causing the problems and were willing to throw parts at my Jeep and keep it as long as needed on their (Chrysler corporate's) dime. They even gave me a loaner free of charge. There was another WK there at the dealer at the same time that they were already throwing parts at on Chrysler's dime...

Thankfully mine turned out to be a [maybe] unrelated issue where two of my ABS wheel speed sensors died simultaneously and a replacement of those sensors fixed my "Service 4WD" light.

Glad you didn't have a big issue. The code is is showing is that actuator is bad and some have had to pay and code still comes back. The problem is they are throwing parts to fix it that were not needed before recall. If you Are out in the middle of nowhere and shift into 4lo and throw a code you are screwed unless you have something to clear the code. I can't imagine the frustration of going back to the dealer 4,5,6 times and still not solving the issues. Some guys had to pay for the parts some have not. I hope they solve the issue soon.

Yeah they mentioned that the actuator solenoid or controller, etc was the first thing they were going to order for my Jeep when it was initially diagnosed. In either case, thankfully my scangauge might have allowed me to clear a code if it had come up in the field.

Re: Jeep Recall

There is no way they are doing this to my jeep. I have been using the emergency brake since I have read about this. I have to take my jeep in sometime before june for the lifetime powertrain warranty check. I guess I'll have to stand there and watch them to make sure they don't perform it.lol If you read through the pages of that thread it's amazing the problems people are having. I just ignore the emails about.

Re: Jeep Recall

Wow I can't believe that this issue has not gained the attention it has over N23 Recall Issue? No 4-Low! - JeepForum.com .

There's over 1700 posts, JeepCares has been really active with this since this has blown up over the past couple of weeks. There was a STAR bulletin released on 3/3/2014 regarding this and some people are having their dealers handle this professionally and there are some dealers that are not so professionally.

I had mine reflashed on Monday and I have my 4-Lo back again. For how long is yet to be determined.

I like this site and find it very helpful, but if I had depended only on the information here and not on at least one other major jeep forum I never would have known about this recall problem, nor how much grief it has caused people or that Jeep is making an attempt to fix this.. (well it looks that way)
