just thinking out loud.....

i dont have my truck other wise i would go outside and confirm, but im planning on mounting my cb within a week once all the goodies come in but i have a small radio shack cb radio im thinking of whether or not it will fit into the small cubby hole under the heater controls in the dash ... the measurements are an inch and a half high by four and a quarter wide by 6 inches deep

has anyone tried this ?

Re: just thinking out loud.....

That'll fit easy. You do have to cut the back off the cubby though since it's only 4.5" deep. The opening is about 1.75" H x 6" W x 4.5" D, but in the back it narrows to about 4.5" wide.

thats awesome !! im offically stoked

i think the green from the cb will match the green from the dash nicely and im not very good at fabbing up a bracket from your build thread im thinking about cutting the back off from the cubby and drilling a hole on the side of the cubby and putting the mounting screw in there

Sorry , I re-read your OP. Those are the measurements for the cubby on the left. The radio won't fit in the middle.

Re: just thinking out loud.....

Just pull the cubby out, (pops right out and is replaceable), cut the back off it, and slide the radio in. Depending on how much space there is, you can fill/attach with double side foam tape, caulk, or even "good stuff" spray foam from the back (just be sure not to obstruct the speaker.) On the face you'll have some gaps around it, but not a big deal.

I only made the face plate for mine because I could. The build is part of the fun.

Re: just thinking out loud.....

MattyDipps what color interior do you have? I am looking for a new cubby in tan. Here is what I originally used my cubby for:

If you have a tan one I would love to trade!

Would one of those little half size radios fit into the middle cubby hole? or are these the same size that Omelet used in his installation?
