Re: K&N Cold Air Intake

From what I hear Superchips is a home run. I've never heard anything negative about it. Many people like the added features over a chip ( multiple programs, code reading, etc. ). It was the price that deterred me. That and trying to decide if it should remain stock or not. I went the Jetchip stage 1 mostly for price but I like the way you plug it in and leave it. Jet claims 18-20 hp gains which definitely helps an engine with 235hp! As far as premature wear on the vehicle... I wouldn't worry about it. It comes down to how the truck will be used ( ie: beating on it like an idiot )that' ll effect longevity .

Re: K&N Cold Air Intake

Now I'm looking online and I see that there is a 77 and 63 series, the 77 is chrome, the 63 is black. I like the 63 and it says it puts out more HP and TQ, but what's the difference.

Re: K&N Cold Air Intake

Hmm you would think there is more than that. Why not just make it the same model number but with different colors available? And that doesn't explain the increased HP gain of the 63.

Re: K&N Cold Air Intake

Couldn't figure it out myself. maybe the plastic remains cooler.

That is the only reason, the chrome conducts heat as do all metals and become hotter while the series 63 is a plastic that does not conduct as much heat thus theoretically more HP

Re: K&N Cold Air Intake

Looked online and everywhere is listing the 63 series as $320. I find this extremely high for a plastic tube with a filter on it. I'd rather just make my own CAI for that price. If anyone has one, where did you buy yours?

Edit: Screw it, just pulled the trigger on a AFE Dry Filter one from a local shop for $240. I'll have a review of it in a couple days.
