I dug through a lot of old topics and didnt get what i was looking for and kind of wanted to test the waters and see if any one has figured anything out that wasn't brought back up.
My key fob is failing, i have to be about 1ft from the jeep before it will open, and even then sometimes i have to keep mashing the button. This particular fob is only about 1year old and new battery. My old one the button fell off trying to replace the battery when it had the same issue..So its gotta be the jeep. Did any one ever figure this out?
I def have a Gremlin...he hasn't reared his head lately, but he is lurking and waiting!
IDK Jon I go months with no issues then bam I press unlock or lock or RS 20X and nothing...then poof she works. I have had the Jeep 19+ months, never replaced the battery and I can still get range of 200+ feet! But then I get nothing...very weird
I have a gremlin also. My jeep will unlock with me being inside my house pressing the button, the later on that day, i will have to be on the window saying a prayer for it to unlock... WIERD sh*t....
Both my fob's failed due to the poor design and solder on the battery holder, they fell off. I took them to a shop and had them soldered back on for like 10 bucks and it has worked perfect since then. There is a bunch of how to sites on this because it is such a common issue. Mine slowly got worse and worse until it would not open the doors at all.

had the same thing happen to mine...less than a year old, replaced the battery but same results. works intermittently. anyone have a pic/directions on how to open the whole case without damaging it? want to check the battery connections.
just unscrew it in the back, and take out the battery. if the metal battery clasp is loose then that is your problem. I have a keyfob sitting on my counter waiting for me to solder it again.
My gremlns came back yesterday for a couple locks and unlocks...then I was able to remote start from 100 +feet away in the same day so idk WTF is going on haha
ive checked my solder before and never looked like it was cracked/having issues. but it i need to find more screws for the backing bfore i take it apart again. they stripped so easy
