key troubles and random alarm sounds

when i unlock my 2005 limited wk with the key pad unlock button it will sometimes sound the horn and flash my headlights but it sounds more like the alarm because its pretty loud and very annoying it happens at random but everyday atleast once

any one ever experienced this? how to fix it?

also if i unlock my car manually by inserting the key and then i open the door the alarm will go off, is there any way to change this?

Re: key troubles and random alarm sounds

the alarm will always go off if you use the key in the door if you locked it by using the remote. for the other problem, you battery is going dead or the electrical contacts in the remote are loose.

it will have to be programed by the dealer, i dont know what they charge for the actual key, but its $75-100 to program it

Re: key troubles and random alarm sounds

I had alarm problems and had them reflash the alarm system. Stupid aftermarket crap...

Anywhos it still does it randomly but much more rarely. It use to happen 3 out of 5 times, now its like 1 out of 15. But even with a new remote (I have the digital key FOB that gets inserted into the ignition instead of a literal key) and the alarm system been reprogrammed, no solutions.

This is on an 09 WK btw.

Re: key troubles and random alarm sounds

You may want to see if your car takes 2 clicks to unlock both doors or just one. Its a setting in the menu options. Mine will go off if the key fob unlocks all doors at once with one click so I have set it one open the driver, then 2nd unlocks the rest.
