I don't see this working out. I think you might have gotten some bad info, unfortunately.

But, if you think you are right? Post a part# or website, I have an 08, I'll get one right away and try it out. But, a push-button start system for 18 bucks? everybody would have this.

Thanks.

I would like to hear from Milous on whether or not this would work.

All of the available parts are listed in the 2009 U.S. parts book, the reason is that Keyless Go/Proximity Entry was an option planned for the 2009 model year, and in fact quite a number of pre-production WK's were built with the feature (including SRT's). For whatever reasons, it was delayed until the WK2 generation.

You cannot simply purchase the $18.00 button and have it work, it's far more complicated. You have to replace the PEM (Passive Entry Module), the WIN (Wireless Ignition Node) and the key fobs. Antennas and new door handles are also required. Total cost a couple of years ago was around $700.00. Probably much higher now. Plus the cost of dealer programming. Probably a $1000 mod and not an easy install.

2009 pre-production SRT8 with Proximity Entry (note chrome door handles) and Keyless-Go:

Re: Keyless push button start?

the idatalink box is a factory immobilizer. you have to have one if you want to do anything that has to do with the ignition. so like for a remote start or keyless entry system you have to have one of these to bypass the factory alarm and the electronic chip in the key.

Sounds like this should have been called "Lockpick"!

Re: Keyless push button start?

Notice that pre production SRT8 not only has a push button but it appears to be RWD as well.
