lets design a swing out tire carrier

Ok, I have seen saguaro's rear bumper, its cool but not what I need. I have been thinking long and hard about the way to mount the tire in the back while keeping my bumper and rear sensors.
So, I started crawling under the jeep and have a nice clean view, since there is no tire under there. The first thing I noticed is that the frame where the hitch mounts to would be perfect to mount support blocks that could hopefully be bolted on. I would have to cut the rear bumper and think I could make it neat by using weather stripping around the cut out.
Now I am not an engineer, but someone here is. Basically I am looking to design, buy material, cut it all out and pay someone to weld it together for me. after that I will just spray truck bed liner to seal/clean it up.
I have scetched a design, but do not know what size steel to use, or even if I should use steel. Should it be solid or hollow. I got the idea from hitch gate, just instead of mounting to the hitch I want to bolt it on the frame.
Here are some pics!

be cool if you could use that hitch mount and keep it clean enough to use the hitch bezel.

yes steel. due to the weight of the wheel.

Re: lets design a swing out tire carrier

Well supposedly Saguro is working on a swing out mount to work with the stock bumper. Idk how far along it is thus far though.

Re: lets design a swing out tire carrier

"Just for clarification, we are building a complete replacement rear bumper and tire carrier that should be in production in the next 2-3 weeks. The factory bumper tire carrier would be a tire carrier that would work with your factory plastic rear bumper. This would be lighter in weight and would allow you to continue to use your backup cameras and sensors because it would not require you to discard your factory rear bumper. The downside will be that it will not offer any protection while out on a trail. This will be great for those that can't fit a larger spare in the factory location, but don't do any serious off-roading."

I had posted this awhile back. Pulled it off their fb page b/c they were having a vote for the next WK product. This one won so like I said, it's supposed to be getting planned out now

Re: lets design a swing out tire carrier

555ctsv had a swing out carrier on his rig. i think it was hitch mounted so you could take it off when not trailing. here are a few pics.
