Re: Lift Gate Supports??

liftsupportdepot.com $11 for the strong arm supports; just got mine last week; there are 2 different types with the WK; mine has the torx bolts, while some WK's use ballstuds and clips.

Well I installed them today in about 15 minutes. You will need to put some gease on the threads to make it easy to screw in and have someone to hold the door up do one side at a time. Need some help let me know.

Re: Lift Gate Supports??

I got those same ones from advance, and so far they have been working for a year in a cold climate. Mine had the torx bolts on them, but I think you can use either one. On the WJ, I bought some from car quest and they had the ballstud and clips, and they just went in the same as how the oem torx ones did.

Re: Lift Gate Supports??

Is the lift gate supposed to raise itself once you open it or is some effort required in lifting it up?

Mine currently requires me to help it get up, but once it's up, it stays up. I've always wanted it to have more pressure and go up without further assistance. If they're not made to go up by themselves, would it harm anything to put on some high pressured supports that'll make it lift by itself?

Re: Lift Gate Supports??

Thex2, contact Strutwise and tell Frank what you're wanting to do. He can give you some guidance and also set them up the way YOU want them for your particular application and climate.
