Re: Little Mod for the Stock Air Box

I ran a piece of aluminum dryer hose to my Mopar CAI with the dry filter, and I've had no problems.

Re: Little Mod for the Stock Air Box

i just did this last night and i have noticed a big difference in throttle response due to increase of air flow through my k&n panel filter. great mod for sure. i can see why jeep put that air restrictor on that intake but seriously needs to go. has anyone seen a difference in mpg?? + or -

Re: Little Mod for the Stock Air Box

does everyone know that there is a port on the bottom of the stock housing as well? Its 2-3" in diameter. It is covered by a cap that is removable. I think its a perfect point to route some ram air from the front of the jeep and get some extra cool air into the airbox. Take a look next time you have your filter out.

Re: Little Mod for the Stock Air Box

scottina that is exactly what i was hoping to hear! Thats the perfect place to route some tube from the factory fog light area. I was thinking that that area, being such a high pressure zone, would be a great way to pressurize the airbox and possibly help increase the intake velocity!

Re: Little Mod for the Stock Air Box

i actually took mine off and ported it in a sort of spiral direction about three inches up the bottom. i took it out by unhooking the three snap hooks and used a 1/4" drill bit. didnt want to completely eliminate it just because its a good place for water to collect and run out. the only problem i see with running a hose from that tube hole andconnecting it to the fog light area is what if you aquire water in your air box? where will it go? just a thought.

Re: Little Mod for the Stock Air Box

I covered my volants small hole located at the bottom thinking rain could easily get sucked in on prolonged travels in bad weather but never thought of routing more air from the grille to it... Hmmm. Cheers fellas!!

Edit: hmmm maybe tap into the brake ducts since its close by....

Re: Little Mod for the Stock Air Box

Ya i thought about the water and such being collected from that area wkthursty and maybe i can do an aem bypass vavle as a precaution..i think that might work. Idk ill look into it and do some looking and thinking

Or maybe i just wont run the piping flush with the air box and have a little gap for water to "fall out" before hitting the stock box

Re: Little Mod for the Stock Air Box

where does the water go when the hole is covered? Itll go the same place that it goes when the hole is uncovered....
