Little oil in the PCV Hose?

My check engine light came on recently. I had gone offroading about 3 days earlier without any problems though the engine bay did get splattered a good bit. My intake didn't get splashed.

I noticed a dark spot on the bottom side of my minifilter connected to the PCV hose (the small hose that is connected to the stock intake box - I think PCV hose is the correct term?). I removed the filter and found a few drops of oil in the hose.

Might this be why my check engine light is on? What could have happened? What can I do to fix it?

I'm due for inspection this month so I'm hoping to get rid of the light asap. Thanks in advance for the help!

Re: Little oil in the PCV Hose?

PCV is like a $5 part at the most at parts store... could always grab another one.

True, but if I can't figure out why there would be oil leaking out of it in the first place

Re: Little oil in the PCV Hose?

The pvc hose will always get a little oil in it, thats not the source of your light

I would think that offroading could cause some oil to splash? Im not sure... Is it up into the intake too?

Have you done the key thing to pull a code by chance?

It's only in the PCV. Intake's perfectly clear.

Re: Little oil in the PCV Hose?

On the EVIC computer screen you should have a code or done come up if you turn the key from off to on 3 times kinda quick.. JUST TO ON.

http://jeepgarage.org/showthread.php?t=71

There is a list of codes... if its not in there google it.

I dont remember where i found that...but it works. AutoZone will pull codes for you... I think its only a dealer that can reset it for you though? I think if you sort the problem it out the light will go away - obviously.

*edited to reflect code list on this site.

Re: Little oil in the PCV Hose?

I'm having trouble getting to the codes. I've tried flipping it from off to on as described on multiple websites without luck. I must have turned the damn key near 100 times now...tips?
