Re: Looking for a Jeep...confused

It used to be that you could only get the QD-II with the Off Road package...but now you can get it separately as an option. What's the name of the dealer...can you pull up the window sticker?

I have pulled up the Carfax but cannot pull up a window-sticker. I find it absurd that someone sprung for that transmission but not the skidplates, as well. However, boots on the ground told me no skidplate, and they are the one's that have something to gain from them being there.

Ok I apologize I was misread your first post...it should definitely have the QT-II transfer case with the low range....that's strange that it only has the one skid plate.

It has the QD-II. I have no idea why they didn't have skidplates. Meh. Maybe they do and the dealership guy doesn't know what they look like? Possible but not likely? It's not at a Dodge Dealership, so who knows.

I wouldn't worry too much about the skid plates. If you are seriously going to off-road they need upgrading, if you are not, you are fine without them.

My guess is the front was removed for an oil change at some point and never reinstalled. No biggie.

As for the trail rated badge, that also could have been removed. Some people don't like the asymmetry as it is only on the driver side. They are also prone to wear. Who knows, some punk kid's girlfriend could now have a trail rated necklace!

It's missing the trail rated badge. I can peel mine off and mail it to you. It's still got full time 4 wheel drive with the Quadradrive and the 5.7 Hemi. Limited means you got some more chrome and your rear seats are heated along with your steering wheel. I'm not sure which skid plates you mean other than the under belly armour. I stand to be corrected, but for a front skid, wouldn't the air dam have to be removed? I wouldn't think that would come from the dealer due to the mileage hit it would take. And if it comes with a rear, I've never heard of a stock one from the dealership. What brand would it be?

I don't have the answers to your questions, nor can I even intellectualize them to be honest. I just don't know.

However, every PDF file I have seen says Transfer case, Front Suspension, Fuel Tank.

Re: Looking for a Jeep...confused

Well, dealer was wrong. Vehicle has all the skid plates. Trans fluid is clear pink with zero smell. A drive around town romping a bit netted 12.8-13.6 avg. Mpg. Normal?

If you got the front tow hooks then you would have that package with all the armour then. Would you be able to post a pic of the front? I just want to see what it looks like with that set up. I've been sniffing around for some front tow hooks.
And 14 MPG would be about what you should expect to get with moderate driving, and maybe 30% highway. I got the same truck, just not the limited, and it's pretty easy to start ripping around, especially when you first get it. fun fun

Yes, it has front tow hooks, although they don't show up the best here:

Yeah, the mileage is...painful. But off-set by being able to use 87 and 89 octane. The dealer filled it up with 87 because the pump for 89 wasn't working (station had no gas, I was the one who filled it, so I know this for fact). Is 87 a problem or does it limit anything?

This vehicle seems to be of much higher quality than my 370Z, except the NAV. The NAV unit is pure stone-age, but it is very functional and attached to a good sound system, so it's a little nit-pick that I really don't feel much irritation over.

I now need tires. These are about done. What tires should I get? I have NEVER bought tires for anything but a sports car.

I value (for this application)

-hydroplane resistance
-quiet
-clean/clear asphalt handling/traction
-off-road traction/handling
-longevity
-price

In that order.
