Looking to buy used WK with QT II or QD II.

Hello. My '96 Grand Cherokee Limited has 156k on it, with an additional 80,000 being towed behind my Motorhome. Michigan rust is attacking the back door and rocker panels, seats are falling apart, it's time for a new/used one.
I'm focusing on a WK with less than 50,000 miles. I know that to tow flat behind my motorhome, it has to be equipped with Quadra-Trac II or Quadra-Drive II.
I've been searching online listings in my area and everyone says they have 4x4, but no one mentions which type. I am "assuming" that Quadra-Trac II or Quadra-Drive II is typically included in the loaded package Limited Editions and not in the Laredo.
Is there any way to tell using the VIN , what type of 4wd is in the package?
You know how difficult it can be dealing with Used Car Salesmen, who have to have knowledge about every vehicle sold in the last 20 years.....it doesn't happen. What questions should I ask them to verify if the WK has Quadra-Trac II or Quadra-Drive II ?
Thanks in Advance.
Mike in Battle Creek.

Re: Looking to buy used WK with QT II or QD II.

If you can inspect the vehicle, you can look at the gear console. Quadra Drive II systems will state this right under the gear shift.

You can also stick your head under and look at the rear axle - if it has electronic connections going into it, it's QDII, as they are used to control the LSD.

I'm not sure if it still works, but it used to be if you used the following link (replacing the VIN at the end of the link), it would bring up the build sheet for your vehicle:

I am sure it is possible to decode the VIN by hand as well, but I am not sure what digit/code you are looking for.

With the above, you shouldn't have to ask the dealer anything, provided you can see it in person.
