You will probably have to go to a dealer and get them to activate the system with their StarScan tool so the CAN bus system will know you added the auto head light stuff.

Re: Looking to find sun sensor for auto headlights

I am having the same problem as redrubicon. Factory auto headlights that just shut off when turned to Auto. Yes it is DARK outside when I try. The lights come on with wipers but not with the sensor.
Any help or a wiring diagram?

Thanks,
Ron

Re: Looking to find sun sensor for auto headlights

I am thinking I wanna set-up my auto headlights. I'm installing fogs over Christmas. Anyone have the part number for the Auto lamp sensor?

I'm curious about this too. Seems simple enough if it's just the two items (sensor and stalk) that need to be addressed. I popped the plastic bit off of my dash and tried to find the connector for the sensor, but there's not much room to explore. I think I might grab a borescope and see what I can find.

I did read on one forum (I'll see if I can find the link) that said Jeep used a different harness unless the build called for the light sensor. That being said, the FSM I have for the WK only shows 1 harness being used so I don't know how valid that statement is.

Anyone have success with the project at all?

Re: Looking to find sun sensor for auto headlights

Hello,

Thanks for the info, I actually replaced my whole dash and missed place those wiring for the sensor. If you could send me a photo of the part number or what the wire look likes, I am sure I can get everything collected. If you could please let me know. Thanks.

The part numbers I have are:

Ambient Light Sensor: 56050241AB
Multi Function Switch: 5143313AF

I have been unable to find a part number for the wiring harness that the light sensor plugs in to, so I can't compare to see if they are different between models or not.

Same here, I haven't been able to find that wiring part number. We are on the same boat here.

It's only the sensor and the switch to be changed I've seen it done by the mech once

What year did you see this done on, and on what trim? It would be great if that were the case across the board.

It's some time ago now can't remember exactly, but my guess is that it's the same on all years starting from the limited trim.

Re: Looking to find sun sensor for auto headlights

I picked up a borescope and dug around in my dash last night and this morning. I could not find the light sensor pigtail so it looks like I'm going to have to pin my preexisting connector.
