Magnaflow catback & aFe intake installed on 2010 Hemi

This whole week I was in the hospital. My sister decided she wanted to do something to cheer me up. She asked if she could send my Jeep "home" with her b/f. As he is an ASE Master Mechanic, I knew only something good would come.

The new Magnaflow full catback exhaust & aFe cold air intake sitting in the garage went with him as well.

I had already wasted the better part of 3/4's of a day trying to install the aFe intake. Due to a change in the reservoir bottle used by Jeep, it is NOT "plug n play" work. And as of yet, aFe has no fix for it.

And the Magnaflow is supposed to be "bolt off-bolt on", but that too changed at some point. On the 2010, it is a full welded system, requiring cutting of the factory one.

I got home from the hospital yesterday evening, and several hours later, I felt the house rumble. I knew my Jeep was back, breathing and, umm exhausting better than ever!

Here's a rear view pic (similar Jeep) of "before" for comparison:

And here's the "after":

Definitely was missing something!! Have to research what tune to go with now.

I can't wait until I'm well enough to go out and "play".

The problem is with the reservoir. It is wider on the '10 than the previous years. This interferes with the way the aFe metal housing sits on top of the (bottom half of) factory airbox. The reservoir mounting point on the inner fender stops the aFe box from lining up properly.

Several ways to go around this:

-Use a dremel and thin out the plastic mounting bracket of the reservoir, and then wedge the aFe housing in there.

-Remove the bottom of the factory airbox, make a bracket from metal and secure the aFe housing. (This option is what was done for my install.)

Also, you will need to buy a longer reservoir overflow hose. The factory hose will not be long enough to reach around the aFe housing.

I just took two pics of the aFe intake installed. I'll upload them now.

Without the cover installed. Notice how it sits lower than the reservoir bracket in the upper left corner of the pic.

And with the cover installed:

Glad you finally got it all installed - I told you you would like it!!

Keep us updated on what you decide for a tuner - that is one thing I have held off on because I have been working on another project (2005 Yamaha Rhino).
