Re: Make me feel better... Tell me about your failures.

I just had my OME kit installed and forgot to tell my mechanic that rear coil marked "A" goes on the driver side and "B" goes on the passenger side. Now I have to switch them. Lol.

Re: Make me feel better... Tell me about your failures.

as long as you soak the window, take your time and do it in a dust free enviroment tinting is really easy to do.

my biggest mistake was doing the install of my srt seats, took way longer than i expected, but it ended up being great for me in the end!

Anyways for me; noob mistake - not screwing in my 3K fogs tight enough so one of them was dragging on the street and I didn't notice until I've seen my reflection in the back of a car. Looked like it was winking LOL...

Re: Make me feel better... Tell me about your failures.

A couple of days after a performing a brake job on my WJ I noticed braking seemed strange on my way home on the interstate. As I got closer to home and on a 30 mph 4 lane I hit the brakes at a traffic light and my driver side wheel siezes up. I had failed to tighten my caliper bolts and one backed completely out, slinging the caliper into the wheel and actually grinding into it bad enough to ruin the wheel.
I was lucky that the bolt didn't back out until I was off the interstate. I do NOT want to find out what could have happened at 70 mph. I felt like a total idiot afterwards (because I was).

Re: Make me feel better... Tell me about your failures.

I tinted my TJ's fronts and my XJ's fronts...I did both twice. The first time on each I did exactly what you did. The second time I removed the glass entirely and did it on a workbench. MUCH easier to do that way...but you're without glass for a day.

Re: Make me feel better... Tell me about your failures.

When I was 18, I was installing a turbo on my 92 escort lxe... I worked swing shift, it was a thursday, I had worked all night, got off at like 3:30am came home and slept till 9am, got up and went about my buisness. it wasnt until that night that it had kinda set in that I had everything I needed to install the turbo. Considering I had turbo stuff for like 2 years while I was accumulating parts I was in a bit of shock when it was ready to go in. Anyway I was up all night, installing a jdm oil pan with an oil return, turbo, manifold, injectors, ecu... At 10am the next morning I couldnt even keep my eyes open, I was an absolute zombie not to mention I had cracked the screen on my phone laying on it in my pocket, and it was just about time to take it off the jackstands and fire it up... filled it up with oil, set it down and I was DUMPING oil from my crappy seal job. Problem was partially a stupid 4 part oil pan seal design and partially not enough rtv. So my already broken phone went flying across the shop and my buddy drove me home to get a shower and some shuteye.

Crap happens... EVERYONE whom turns wrenches either for hobbie, necessity, or a paycheck has done or will do something.
