I had the Michelin at/2 tire on my 05 hemi 4x4 about a year ago.
When I bought them they had a 30 day satisfaction guaranty. I returned them because on the grooved cement freeways in my area, the Jeep would jump around in the lane. It was really annoying and distracting. It felt unsafe but probably wasn't.
I traded them for the LTX, ms which were quieter and didn't follow the grooves. And since the vast majority of the driving I do is on the street, I like them better.
If I ever get more into off-roading, I'll get another set of wheels and put more agressive tires on only then.
I called my local shop (who I've used for many years and am on a first-name basis with) and he told me to go with the Michelin LTX's even though he doesn't carry them. Of course he said to bring them to him for mounting, hehe.
I'm going on a road trip (hell yeah) and need 2 new tires pretty soon. Any input would be awesome!
Well I ended up going with the General Grappler HTS (245/65/17)... they compare with the high-end Michelin's, have a lower price, rated best tire by consumer Reports and Tire Rack surveys. I got a my local guy to do them for $309 - mounted and balanced for a pair.
Hydroplaning resistance and wet/dry traction was most important for me... 5.7l + 2wd = you better have traction (especially in rain). Hopefully no more hydroplaning on the highway going 80, lol. That's no fun.
