Re: MPG question for 4.7 guys.

Even when I baby it I dont see the MPG you guys are getting. Next time im on the highway i'll reset it and see what I can get. I drive a 03' Limited 4.7 everyday and I think thats about 12mpg in the city according to the EVIC, i'll have to recheck. I use to drive my brothers 05' limited Hemi and I think that was about 11.5 city if I remember correctly.

Re: MPG question for 4.7 guys.

Stock 2007 4.7L. Driving to Chicago from Cincinnati averaged ~20mpg at 72mph. 40K miles,700 miles round trip. Checked the computer mileage vs. pump/distance and verified.

Re: MPG question for 4.7 guys.

I have mentioned in the past that i do not use autostick and keep the cruise on at 60-70mph respectively. I get about 20-21 highway, and 13 or so city. I have learned to drive rather conservative now with my new job as I drive roughly 320 miles a week.

Re: MPG question for 4.7 guys.

Yeah, that reminds me, I use cruise as often as I possibly can. I really believe it saves a lot of gas. When I go upstate, if I use cruise a lot I get 20 or close to it. Without it I get mid 17's to 18.

Re: MPG question for 4.7 guys.

Yeah since your mind slips on keeping track of how fast you are going and so your speed isn't steady... which will kill your mpg.

But lets face it... we all didn't get V8 powered jeeps since they have stellar fuel economies now did we? (my 2nd car will be a jetta TDI)

Re: MPG question for 4.7 guys.

I think I posted at one other forum on this site but in my 07 4.7 27k miles that I have owned since new 11/07 my city is around 15mpg (13 in the winter with a lot of remote starts and warmups) and 19mpg at 70+mph. I just took a 60mph backroads trip using cruise this past weekend and got 22mpg.
It's been that way all along. I plan to change plugs this summer but otherwise it's what I expected - not great but really no different than my 2001 4.0L I6 got with a lot more torque.

Re: MPG question for 4.7 guys.

I get 17-18 mpg mixed driving. I rarely go over 2400 rpms.

It's all about how you drive. I have an 04 corvette. It gets 30 mpg on the highway with cruise control, 5 mpg at the track.

Don't expect good mpgs if you drive your rig like a vette at the track...

Re: MPG question for 4.7 guys.

I average 12 in city stop and go MPGs and 18 ish on the highway depending on how fast i need to get to my destination. This is going by the on board EVIC computer though not my own calculated miles. I am also a lead foot to a degree.

Re: MPG question for 4.7 guys.

im running the gen 2 4.7 w/ the superlift and 33s

getting like 10 - 11 according to the EVIC - i drive like 40 miles a day to and from work - the route in is more stop and go then the way home is more highway usually less traffic.

i drive 80mph+ pretty much any time i can but i dnt use the autostick very often - once in a while.

when i go on a long trip - i see it go up a little
