Re: My babys... condition.

Thanks guys, my biggest frustration in the matter of getting it running is our shop is about 20 bays too small. Plus pushing it in required getting help to operate the steering wheel while I operated the pusher... then working till the last minute and grabbing some help to push it back out.

We are pretty slow in the shop but I am the closest tech to the service drive which leads to alot of "can you look at this waiter for me". In all I probably have about 10 hrs +/- into it and it got:

-Both head gaskets
-New timing chain kit (tensioners, chains, sliders)
-all new upper end gaskets (still need injector orings, but those will be easy to go back and do).
-New starter because the first gomer whom diagnosed it fried the crap out of the one in it trying to crank a hydrolocked motor.
-Trans service, both filters.
-HID lows and fogs installed.

Hopefully because I came in way under budget (@ about 2500 including the cost of the car, still have to title and register it, and possible diff work and upper diff bushing so in total Ill be less than 3k for this rig... I have chatted with the wife and because it was my time, effort and stress into it she is considering letting me get the OME lift.

Re: My babys... condition.

including the wk...

so far so good, some pinion noise, and one time this evening I had a delayed engagement into reverse, by the time I cought it I was at about 2k rpms and it hit...

Hopefully any trans concerns will wait till I can get it to deq and get my "pass" slip. Last thing I need is a trans concern throwing a check engine light then not being able to title it without a deq slip.

Ill be bringing it into work tomorrow and Ill throw it up and check for leaks or problems.

I believe this would be a contender for JOTM.

Re: My babys... condition.

I appreciate the compliment but there are many more out there more deserving than this stocker.

So I'm bummed guys, brought the rig to work today and overhauled the rear diff to resolve my howl, grabbed the camera out of my car I left at work to drive the jeep home snapped one picture of the car on the lift with the guts removed from the axle housing and the camera went dead, furthermore it didnt even capture that one shot so the action shots are non existant... just like the howl!!!

So checked off the to-do list is:
- rear end overhaul (200.xx)
- front bushings and mount (85 ish)

Left to do:
- freakin enjoy it and not mess with it... I have my eye on a set of studded winter tires locally on the craigslist that would be a great addition for this winter, not sure if I want to cough out the funds yet or not.

She is in the driveway though, drives great, a little soft for my liking, but as mentioned hopefully if it prooves itself for the next couple months and it will probably be getting a OME HD lift that will hopefully resolve the spongy ride.

next on the plate... daytime pictures!!! ha ha.

btw, YES i know the house needs paint... actually have insulated garage doors taking up this jeeps spot in the garage that I just need the time to install.

Thanks guys... I couldnt believe it either when I set my eyes on it. I knew they wanted 1k but I am pretty sure this has every option possible on a laredo. Even beyond that it is in AMAZING shape for the mileage! I knew it was a keeper the first time I saw it.

Re: My babys... condition.

It was a great deal... combine with my employee discount made for quality parts/repairs on the cheap.

I have a couple coworkers that will probably remember this for a while... I was actually not the first in line to scoop this up but I was the only one that wanted it to drive for myself (everyone else wanted to flip it). Because I wanted it for myself those infront of me backed off and I truely appreciate it! As a matter of fact one guy actually had it basically sold to a friend of his pending further investigation into its full condition.

worst news thus far...
-a leaking upper radiator hose emptied my resivor, freaked the hell out of me at first considering coolant in a cylinder is why I got it so cheap. replaced the hose, topped off the resivor and been great.
-titling and registering this thing cost me more than anticipated, like 225.
-70 dollars in gas in the first week and there was minimal extra driving like the usual new car gets (coming from my 30 bucks a week in my protege).
-one of my hid foglamp ballasts is already dead... now I get to mail it in and wait for them to verify its dead then wait for them to send me another, it will be summer by then!
