My Halloween Noreaster

So as many know the northeast got hit with a pretty rugged snow storn on friday the 28th. With over 2 million people out of power in the northeastern part of the US and about 300 thousand people in NH alone without power. We lost power from 6pm friday night until 6pm tuesday night. There are still over 60k people without power in NH. The utility companies got over 400 extra crews to help from all over the US and Canada. My wife is a call center rep for Unitil electric and gas in NH. We got over 18 inches of wet heavy snow in our town. Needless to say trick or treating was cancelled. A tree fell right outside my 1 year old sons beedroom window friday night due to high winds. Had the tree broken off a few feet lower it would hit the house and his window over his crib.

Here are some pics of the snow. Feel free to share your stories and pics!and always remember when power is lost those guys are risking their lives and working 12hr rotating shifts to get your power back and its hard time consuming work as well. Next time you see a lineman be sure to thank them!

WOW!!!! I live in SouthCoast MA and luckily for us, it was pretty much just a dusting. These pics look like you're in the dead of winter already! Glad to hear nothing happened to your child or home for that matter! Good luck getting through this buddy

Re: My Halloween Noreaster

I live in putnam valley new york and we got a little over a foot. We were out of power for only 2 days luckily but my cousins live two towns up and theyre still out since saturday afternoon. Since the leaves were still on the trees they all got heavy and on our property we lost half our good trees. At my buddy's house, the snow snapped a tree which hit a transformer and it blew the meter literally 10 feet off his house, lost 10,000$ of electronics and some trees hit the house. He also got 4 ft of water in the house from a watermain break. This is what happens when it snows in not winter it sucks. OH btw, GLOBAL WARMING MY ASS

Re: My Halloween Noreaster

PSNH electric is the last company in NH with customers still w/o power. They are down to 15k poeple out as of tonight. 75% of the snow has already melted. Watch now we won't get snow till january and we won't have a white X-Mas.

Re: My Halloween Noreaster

wow you guys got plastered up there. we only got 5-6 inches outside of boston. we had far more damage then the hurricane a couple months ago. the snow turned to rain and iced all the trees over. huge trees and branches came down and 3 transformers literally blew up in my town. I was watching tv and heard a loud explosion and then saw a white flashing light, followed by the power going out. we were without power from 11:30pm Saturday night to 12am Wednesday morning. I sent my wife and kid to hotel and I drank whiskey and passed out next to the fireplace with the dogs.

Re: My Halloween Noreaster

I had 16" in my back yard here in Chicopee. Luckily only lost power for 2 days but some area towns are still without juice.

Re: My Halloween Noreaster

Town over from me got 21 inches in some parts. I was without power for 4 days. On the bright side the jeep was quite impressive in my first storm with it. People stuck everywhere and the jeep just pulled on by with little fuss.
