Its not the body shops issue. Its the insurance company. The estimate has to be written for a repair of the 1/4 before it can be written for a replacement. Once the repair is deemed impossible it will go to a replacement. Thats just the way some insurance companies are. They estimator said if this guy has some BS insurance then he can just make it for a new 1/4.

Re: My poor baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hate to say it Kyle.....but unless its worse than the pics....it wont need a new 1/4. Any good shop can fix that by pulling and smoothing. Theres a lot of labor time in the 1/4 removal....not to mention the cost of removing the 1/4 glass etc.

Re: My poor baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know that it can be fixed, i know the body shop is good enough to do it like it never happened. BUT, this guy hit me, and i am going to fight his insurance until i am happy. I am not saying that i wont end up settling for a repair of the panel but i am going to make them cough up the money for a new tail light not a junk yard used tail light. Even though i am not keeping the stock tail lights, i want them to pay for the cost of a new light so i can put that $ towards the tails that i am getting.

Re: My poor baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The jeep is at the shop as of 5:30 tonight. The shop is busy but they are going to fit it in a bit here and there for the next 2 weeks or less. Till then i have a 2009 Dodge ram 4.7 V8 4x4 quad cab.

Re: My poor baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not an autobody person, but I'd be arguing for a new quarterpanel installed by a reputable shop.

Re: My poor baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They have not even started the jeep yet. As far as the panel goes, i have been to 3 different shops and they all say its a 100% fixable panel.

Its not the shop though its the Insurance company who is saying that they wont replace the panel until the panel is deemed unfixable.

As of now the estimate includes, pulling and fixing the sheetmetal, repairing the panel, new tail light, blend rear 1/4 to drivers rear door, blend rear lift gate, blend rear bumper, all new Jeep, 4x4, Limited and custom 4.7L Emblems, (blend includes new paint where needed to be blended and then re clear entire, rear drivers door, 1/4 panel, lift gate,a nd rear bumper cover.

If there is more damage then estimated or more damage behind the 1/4 or if the panel is un fixable the insurance will give them more $ to fix it.

I should have it within 1 to 2 weeks depending on the shops schedule, they are trying to fit it in right now because its technically not drivable with the busted tail light ( dont want to drive it any way even with red tape on it)

I told them to take their time, i like my rental (ive always wanted a Dodge Ram and still want one) so i will enjoy my rental while it lasts.

The shop thats doing the work has a great reputation and i am friends with some of the employees and the owner.
