My REC problems!

Basically I had a REC in my 05 Limited that the joystick was broke, it never really bothered me that much. Well anyway I took it in to the dealership with a nice long list of other things and told them about the REC since I have the Max Care and 100 deductible.

Well they said they will order a "new" one, they installed it in within the first week the screen went out and half of the buttons stopped working. So of course I call them and I have to bring it back to them to verify it does not work, before they order a new one.

Get the other new one in yesterday and before I pull out of the dealership I try to install the Map DVD, I get a error cannot read DVD. So I then try the latest disc that I have a copy of. I get the same message, so I go talk to the Service Manager he looks at my original disc and says thats the problem its to old, and he will order me a updated disc for free and thats why it wont read it. I know its not the disc but the unit itself, but he said he will try the disc first and go from there.

At least I have a working screen and get more then one station with this one.

Re: My REC problems!

Too old? That sounds like BS.

There are some compatibility issues with some DVDs that are burned. I would also guess that the brand of internal DVD players has changed since your last head unit which may be the source of incompatibility. However, I'd think that any of the retail copies of the DVD should work interchangably between years.

Anyway, it'd be easier to verify it is not the disk by trying another car with your DVD... rather than order another DVD. They're just being inconsiderate wasting your time... like most dealerships.
