This whole N23, P73 debacle really irritates me, so here goes. I haven't had any of it done and don't ever plan to. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. In the case of FCA and N23, "if it ain't broke, we'll break it for you, and then charge you to fix it in a year or so.....maybe." After over 2 years of dealer/manufacturer denial that they caused the problems, why would anyone EVER want to put themselves through the BS so many have had to endure. If in doubt, just take a little (or a lot) of time and check out the threads in the different Jeep forums where you can read about all of problems fellow forum members have put up with......and that's just forum members.
How many "non forum" folks do you think have also had to put up with the dealer/manufacturer denials, lies and pleas of ignorance, plus those that have been charged outrageous prices to have fixed a problem that the dealer/manufacturer caused. Now the supposed "final fix" to this debacle is the P73, "Customer Satisfaction Notice". They don't even have the huevos to call it a fix of their 2 years worth of screw ups. They're just "being nice" to the customers because soooo many Jeep owners have had problems with their 4WD low, and they feel sorry for us. How stupid do they think we are. IMO, there should have been a class action suit on this a long time ago.
Off the soap box. I won't go near a stealer except for parts I can't get anywhere else, and I have never had any problems, other than fair wear and tear items, with my Jeep. The $$$ I've saved by not going to them, with their outrageous prices, went to mods. that, IMO, has made my Jeep a whole bunch better (and more reliable) than it was stock. In six years of ownership, the only real component failure I've had is an EGR Valve. If the folks at Jeep had worked on it all this time, I probably would have had to replace half the vehicle by now.....at a cost that would have allowed me to buy a newer one. Just my two cents.
To give you another example, I just got my P73 notice in the mail today. Wonder why they sent it to me, because it doesn't apply to my vehicle. The notice says for those who have the Quadra-Trac II 4WD system. Mine has Quadra-Drive II (which I am sure they know since the notice has my VIN on it)......so why did I get this notice??? If this is as a result of the N23 Recall (which it is, even though they won't comre right out and say it), which does apply to Quadra-Drive II vehicles, why wouldn't the P73 notice indicate Quadra-Drive II also?? Maybe it's a mistake or, more likely another screw up on FCA's part. It's amazing that they can't even get the, "Customer Satifaction Notification" right. It's also noteworthy that many of the different forum members have found a fix to FCA's screwup themselves (fuse pull or an untouched FDCM), and it normally works longer than the N23 recall does. We shall wait and see how this shakes out.
