need advice - dealer issues

Well, some of you may remember my previous thread. Purchase a certified 07 wk Aug 24. 2 weeks later gauges reset while driving. Cel came on, brought it back. Dealer had car for 3 days, said the reflashed the ecu an sent me on my way.
About 10 days later it suddenly shut off while driving. Pulled it over, sat on the phone for a bit with the tow company at 130am. Out of curriosity, turned the key, fired up. Cel on, scanned at my house found 17 or so codes. Brought it to jeep, they had the vehicle for 3 weeks. They found a faulty trans control mod.
Picked her up at 1pm, ran a few errands, at 345 that same day, wouldn't start. Waited, tried again, started. Ran for about 30 seconds an died. Let it sit for 20 min, started, died after a few min. Cel on, 11 codes. Had it towed to the dealer that afternoon. They've now had the car almost another 3 weeks.

I called them Friday, they said they think its a bad ground in a computer. They don't kno which one an are waiting to hear from Chrysler. I've been in a rental/loaner car for 7 of 10 weeks in owning the car.

Long story short, I'm paying on a loan on a vehicle i havent had in my possetion an am quite sick of it. My patience has run out. What should I do? Do I have any kind of action I can take?

Re: need advice - dealer issues

Some state's lemon law says if the same issue hascome up 3 times, you can return it.

However, according to this link:
http://www.cga.ct.gov/2005/rpt/2005-r-0871.htm

CT doesnt do that. So, it seems like all that will be done is they fix it. They should cover your rental/loaner though.

Since you bought it certified, it will still be covered under the Magnuson Moss Act. http://www.lemonlaw.com/connecticut-...questions.html that site talks about it a little bit. They are also a law firm that can represent you, and if you sue and win, all fees are covered by the manufacturer.

Re: need advice - dealer issues

I would try to sweet talk them. Tell them you love the jeep, but it has far too many problems. Ask if they will buy it back and give you credit towards a different car on their lot. Tell them you will at least spend the same amount of money. Also tell them you could see yourself being a customer for life, and will be looking for a car for your significant other in the near future. You love how they have tried to make this jeep right and their customer service has been stellar. Basically lie your ass off. I'm sure you don't want to buy another car from them, but getting a credit might be your best move now.

I would also go to jeep.com and get the service history of your car, it prolly had issues before you bought it. And if what I said doesn't work go the polar opposite and tell them they willing sold you a car with known problems. If it does indeed show that in its history.

Sorry for any spelling I'm on my phone.

Re: need advice - dealer issues

Well, figured if there is anyone out there actually reading this or following it, i'd give an update:

Called the general manager Tuesday, received a call back Wednesday. Said it was the first he'd heard of the issue, would go talk to the service manager and would call me back. I received a call about an hour later from the service manager, not the general manager. SM was appologetic, said he'd be more intimatly involved as he was not aware of the issue and would call me later that day and everyday oneward with a status update.

Got a phone call later that afternoon, they replaced the ignition switch. Turns out there is another problem i didnt even know about. The car is setting off codes while sitting for extended periods of time (+60 min). Said it should be all taken care of, wanted to keep the vehicle over night. I agreeed.

Today, Thursday, i received NO communication of any kind. No status update, NOTHING! They couldn't even keep good on there words of calling me daily for 1 day. I'm shocked yet not because i kind of expected this. They've always never been good at calling me back.

I'm also extremly dissappointed that the general manager couldn't even take the time out of his day to give me a courtesy phone call to see if i was satisfied with the actions taken. You spend $17k and this is the treatment i receive.

Tomorrow morning i will be calling to speak with my loan provider as well as filing another complaint directly with chrysler. I also have plans to call the owner of the "family" of dealerships.

Got a phone call at 930 this morning. Jeeps all set.

Turns out, Bad Ignition Switch. 7 weeks to diagnose a bad ignition switch...amazing.

Re: need advice - dealer issues

At least they gave you something, too bad all the things they gave you most enthusiasts enjoy doing themselves.

But most importantly, well hopefully, your troubles are behind you.

Re: need advice - dealer issues

Well, my ride was in my possesion, i drove it from 11/11 - 11/14. On the 14th it died again while i was driving, check engine light back on, 9 new codes.

Dealer again has had the vehicle for 2 weeks, they've been driving it around, its stalled out on them a couple times, blown more codes then i can comprehend and they are apparently in contact with chrysler engineers. Ive brought up numerous times its about time to get me a new vehicle, but they just ignore it.

Kinda tired paying for a car i dont drive.

im sure you are correct..........to a DEALER tech like you this OWNERS treatment is fine and acceptable for a dealer..........

dont even go there andrew/ my POST would be considered 'CUSTOMER SERVICE' and MOST dealers forgot what that is since they have a captive audience/

since its a used vehicle there is NO LEMON LAW or anything like that. if there was NO WARRANTY when you bought it you OWN all the issues.

so i would suggest you get rid of it....whatever that takes.
