I ahve a '05 5.7. I got my hands on a pair of SRT manifolds and the midpipe from magnaflow for a SRT came in today. I just need suggestions for after the dual flanges of the midpipe. Should I have a shop weld a "collector" and go into a single in/out muffler or dual in single out ? I dont want a lot of drone while driving but I want it to sound aggressive when I get on it .

I guess the biggest consideration would be whether or not you want to keep your spare tire and whether you want to have a trailer hitch. I opted to keep mine (I have an SRT body kit on mine) and wanted the stock hitch modified to fit too, so I went with a custom single 3 in. cat. back exhaust system with 3 mufflers, all straight through. I too wanted good sound but no drone. It took me 3 tries to get to the setup I am now running and it is perfect......AND it finally passes the wife test. Here's what I ended up with (all 3 in. straight through), in this order:
First I have a 12 in. glasspack muffler
Second I have a Magnaflow 14589 muffler right behind the glasspack
Third, in the resonator position I have an Xlerator XS1229 muffler

It all dumps downward in front of the SRT bumper (out of sight), so you can't see any part of it, and the spare still sits in its stock position, as does the hitch. Results.....quiet enough at cruise, a nice mellow sound when on it hard, and virtually no drone when the MDS is active. Works for me and the wife. Also, over time (about 6 years), it has gotten a little louder which, so far, neither of us mind.

Do you have any sound clips?

I want a better exhaust note. I know it won't sound like this but I want as least kind of similar.

Sorry, the only sound/video clips I have are with an open exhaust at the drags. Mine is slightly quieter at start up than that though. IMO, it makes good sounds at WOT, and I can carry on a conversation in the car at cruise, if that helps.

Well it seems I have hit a bit of a snag. I got the new SRT mid pipe from Magnaflow. It seems that the flanges that the muffler would connect to are not a standard flat flange it is some sort of taper flange and nobody around here seems to have what I need to hook to the mid pipe. Does anybody know of a source to get the proper flanges?
