Re: need help with purchase?

Honestly, if you're main concern is MPG, I would consider a different vehicle. However, if you're dead set on getting WK, I would absolutely opt for a V8 (or a CRD if you can find one!). I've heard that the 3.7 doesn't get THAT much better fuel economy, although the guy above seems to be an exception. Also, if you plan on adding bigger tires in the future or do any towing, the bigger engine will handle it much better. If none of these things are a concern for you and you're not a speed demon or go offroad, get the 3.7. I have not heard of any major problems with it. Another thing to keep in mind is that 2008+ 4.7 got a pretty significant boost in power.

Re: need help with purchase?

I would agree that if you are looking for great fuel economy, none of the GC's should be in your pool of potential vehicles. That being said, I do not know why so many think the HEMI V8 doesn't get an acceptable amount of miles per gallon. I travel approximately 120 miles per day four days a week to attend my graduate program. I have been averaging 21 mpg in good weather, and about 19 mpg in windy weather, and when in a bit of a hurry . The MDS actually does help on longer stretches. In town and on shorter trips, I can go as low as 15 mpg, but mainly, I drive on the highway, so those trips are very rare.
I happen to be trying to sell my GC Limited, so if you are in the Missouri area, you are welcome to come by and take a look.
Hope this helps you and good luck finding the right vehicle!

Re: need help with purchase?

What drivetrains do you 3.7 guys have in your jeeps to get such great fuel economy? The best my jeep will ever do is 19-20 babying it at 63 mph on completely flat land. I think the newer hemis have a more aggressive mds tuning... It stays on longer. I have QD 2

Re: need help with purchase?

l test drove the V6 GC at the stealership, i stuck my boot in it to overtake and the saleman saw me trying to look at my feet, ''whats wrong?'' ....''l think the mat is up under the throttle pedal'' he went red and i brought a Hemi (not from him)

Different strokes for different folks, IMO the V6 is under powered and lackluster in a heavy rig like the GC. For a couple of MPG that you will probably loose cos you got your foot in it its a exercise in futility
