Re: Need new tires

Thanks man! Also with going to 18's i have a lot less sway on the hwy which is cool. They seem fine in the rain, but then again so did my bfg mt's. I dont run slalom cones in the rain enough to notice the difference just yet

Re: Need new tires

I saw somewhere online a guy had the wheel all chrome. The black version of the wheel has chrome rings on the outer edge so maybe i can get those. The wheels come with them off and you have to put them on which is really easy but i wouldnt run with nothing there. The threads and area behind the caps would catch a lot of dirt

They would look bad ass if you replaced them with Stainless Steel Bolts like the Dick Cepek DC1 wheels.

I agree. They look like door stops!
Fit some stainless button head screws instead. You can polish the screws by putting them in a drill and then work a rag with metal polish against the spinning screw.

Re: Need new tires

Well im pretty sure I can find the polished bolts at summitt racing. I think the all chrome one i saw they guy just used chrome washers.

Actually i bet i could order the chrome caps from the black wheels like in this pic

As I recall, you've bought the oil filter so far, and now you're buying these tires before doing anything to the vehicle? Are they going to sit around for quite awhile before you do the other work? How do you plan to fit them?

Re: Need new tires

Yeah, wide 35s are very necessary to go on most trails! Good luck!

Re: Need new tires

Dude, ive had 3 lifted jeeps. (all cherokees) I started with 3" and 31s. After a few years and another jeep i went up to 4.5" and 33s. Then i said i wanted to go big and did 5.5" and 35s. Now if i ever get the chance to build another i will go to 3.5" trimmed and 33s. No reason to go bigger then 33s for anything unless you plan on HAD CORE rock crawling, black marked trails or competitions or to be a cool kid at the mall. The bigger the tires, the more work is needed, re gearing for power and gas mileage, beefier steering, bearings wear out all the time, wear and tear. My 35s were 100lbs each. Thats alot of wear and tear on something that comes stock with barely a 30" tire. I will never go over 33" tires again unless i have a bottomless wallet (not likely)
