NHW is giving you some good advice, and I doubt you have that bottomless wallet. Your posts leaned toward the "cool kid at the mall", so I was poking a bit of fun at you. Good luck with the build!

Young-gun, if you are serious about heading to this end, here's a thread from JU that shows all the work that is necessary to build something like this, and the problems that go along with it:

Re: Need new tires: Toyo Open Country AT is the BEST!

If you need new tires for a WK, Toyo Open Country AT's are the very BEST!

They have rugged snow/mud treads yet are very quiet and stable at high roads speeds. Just put on a new set after 35K on the old ones and could have gone another 2-3K but winter is approaching. $750 for set plus mounting and balancing.

HA Ha ha, Yea i wish they were the best. They are the best for the first 10/20k miles until you need to replace them. I work at a tire shop in NH and Toyo tires are our slogan brand and we are forever replacing worn out Toyo AT/MT tires that are barely 2 years old. They are a great tire but they wear out way too fast.

I know you said y ou got better mileage out of them but i had them on my Xj Cherokee and they needed to be replaced before 20k miles, and alot of our customers complain about how fast they wear.

Re: Need new tires

Then why do I get 35K plus miles in Colorado on highway, mud and snow, and rough high country roads? This is the 4th set I've had on two different WKs and they have been perfect!

Re: Need new tires

I told you i know your situation seems to be different, but i work at a major tire shop and i am going by not only my personal experience but our customers experience. These tires wear out really fast. After what ive seen i will never buy another set of them. Sorry but after about a dozen different cases in the past year of people complaining about them wearing prematurly or too fast, i dont trust them to last long.

I'd say that is fast wear considering that I got 60k+ on my Revos, and 55k+ on the Pirellis. I don't run these to a no tread look either, just when they start to show bad traits for traction. No, it's not 20k, but I wouldn't like getting less than 50k on a set of tires.
