Need some help from members with Xenons

I am looking to get xenons for both my low beams, and foglights in my 2005 WK. I am concerned with glare. Does anybody have a pic of their car with the foglights and low beams shining against a garage door or wall from up close? I am curious as to the cutoff pattern, especially on the fogs.

Thanks

Re: Need some help from members with Xenons

you mean xenon bulbs or HID w/ballaast?

Here's a writeup on the fogs (you use the stock housing), he installed 3000K bulbs, they look great.

HOW TO install HID fogs

As for HID in the stock 06 housing, it's illegal because the 05-07 use a reflector and the 08+ uses projector, the former results in a lot of scatter making it look like your lows are high beams.

Re: Need some help from members with Xenons

glare from the fogs isnt too bad, you can adjust it to where you want the cutoff line. Same for the lows but HIDs in the housing without projectors will always scattered light causing glare IMO. just aim the lows so it doesnt blind omcoming traffic

Off topic but not all vehicles with HIDs from the factory have projectors...my moms escalade hade a reflector housing, but instead of vertical lines, the housing has squares, and the cutoff is perfect!!

I'll try to get a pic of mine tonight for u

Re: Need some help from members with Xenons

You will get glare no matter what you do if you put the HIDs into a stock housing that doesnt contain projectors. Yes its illegal, however, many guys including myself have done this mod already.

There are over 200 threads of HID pictures containing HIDs on the wall, and directly at the vehicle.

Do a search already.

Im sure if you searched you could even find my thread on xenondepot hids

Thank's Father Paul. What an incredible amount of glare. I'm having 2nd thoughts about anything but D2R bulbs in the factory housings.

Re: Need some help from members with Xenons

Unless you have projectors, you will still get glare no matter what bulb you shove in your housing.

If glare bothers you, I would look into purchasing the projectors for the 08+ jeeps, like Scottina06 has, or else custom build projectors, like robpp has.
