I decided to be a cheap ass and instead of saving up for the MBRP catback, I just ordered a 26" Magnaflow glasspack (round 4" diameter, 2.5" in/out) and a turn-down tip, and I'm just going to dump it before the axle. I figure that should give it a little bit of a roar. it was $35 for the muffler, $20 for the tip, and seeing as I have a friend that can weld up the piping and a hanger, the whole catback should end up costing me less than $100!
quick question! I have read that the 31's will clear with this lift with no problem, but does anyone know if I will need wheel spacers? I'm just putting 255/70R17 Toyo's on the stock wheels.
wow really? that will definitely work out to my advantage if I'm too lazy to install my lift right away. how'd you go about recalibrating the speedometer?
Yup no problems at all w fit n clearance. Took her romping n she was fine too! The speedo seems to be fine. Gone by many radars and every time it was right on. I have an overland and the stock tires are 245/65R17 so not much diff in size. Mpg dropped a lil bit tho. Oh the price we pay! Literally!! Haha. Enjoy them new shoes!
I have the stock 245/65's too.. but it's still going from 29.5" to 31" I would think that would screw up the speedo. hmm I guess I'll find out. thanks for the info!
well I went to go check it out tonight and the assholes had already taken it to a scrap yard 115 miles away so it looks like I won't even get to see it
but anyway it was deemed a total loss and it only took them half an hour to find the little shit that did it. he's 16 years old and works at the McDonalds right across from my work and he's got himself quite a reputation. his exact words when confronted were "I'm not sorry. I had no idea that there were cameras." and he really had no reason for doing it other than looking for stuff to pawn off. his parents were a lot more apologetic than he was (although I hope they don't apologize when they chop his body up into little pieces while he sleeps) and said they would like to work out a way to pay for the Jeep without getting my insurance involved if possible. of course in return they want me to drop the charges against their son which I haven't yet decided if I'm willing to do. worst case scenario, I just go to my insurance and it will all be covered.
but anyway, my sister offered me her WJ dirt cheap after I explained what happened so it looks like I'll be buying that, and then perhaps something a little more commuter-friendly to replace the WK. so no matter what, there should be another Jeep in the garage soon!
