I've seen the pics of your Willys, should be a neat project!

No such thing as a 2WD Grand Cherokee in any model here or Cherokee's either. So it will stay a 4wd in the Willys as far to complex to turn it into a 2wd anyway from what I have read so far.

Will be putting them up on eBay in the US as have had a lot of enquires about them already. We let the forum know when I put them up. The bumper too but will first check what it would cost to send over there as could be prohibitive. Only panels I will be using might be part of the roof and maybe the firewall and floor. Thinking seeing I will be widening the Willys cab anyway to cover the WH track ( 5" wider on the front but 1.5" narrower rear ) I might be lucky to get the seat and brake mounting already done etc. Most likely the the WH firewall will still be too wide as the cowl is a lot narrower than the rear of the cab on the Willys.

Re: New Member

Found out that the accident was 3 months ago and he got Tee boned by a guy doing about 160 kph on a, wait for it, Harley!
The impact was that hard it caused the throttle to stay on and had him ploughing off the road through the scrub until it came up against something. He said the engine was still running when they cut him out and digging holes in the ground! He broke 5 ribs and was pretty banged up but the side, or any bags, did not go off!

It's home!

Just found out the mileage when I connected the battery and it is only a bit over 20,000 miles!

Re: New Member

Got a transmitter sent to me this morning from the original owner too. Perfect timing so got to hear it run and I drove it a few meters back and forth on the driveway.
Had a close look at the damage and looks so far to be both struts, remote power steering reservoir and the rod had a bend coming out of one side of the steering rack. Battery got a leak which is not a surprise considering it has been pushed back a foot!. Can steering racks just have the bent part replaced? Have not had a car with a rack before so new territory.
Also the media centre does not turn on? The volume button says push to on but does nothing at all. Am I missing something or need a pin from the original owner or something? It shows no life at all no matter which button I push on it. Everything else in the dash appears to be working.

I think you have to replace the rack.
The radio may be dead...but could be unplugged?

Re: New Member

I will check the wiring as the whole fascia with the heater controls etc was also unplugged and found it behind the rear seat. I plugged all that back and that now works but maybe they also unplugged more that I have not seen. Think it was in the their attemp to be able to move it around without the transmitter so it could be winched on the the flat bed truck etc.

Re: New Member

How come I can start the engine just with my finger in the ignition slot? How close does the transmitter need to be as it was 30-40 feet away inside the house at the time?
Could it mean the the lost transmitter is still in the Jeep some where then if that is too far away?
