Re: new tires

I am running the General AT2 on my XJ for the last 3 years or so. I really like them and would never go back to the BFG AT's I ran before that.

I had 235/65/17 before I went to 245. You can run 245's with no problem. 245 actually came stock on some WK's, my brother had them with the offroad package on his. The 235's look to small on the WK, the 245 Looks better IMO especially with the beefier tread on the Dueler 695's. It's a great tire, no road sound, my jeep is still quick off the line, and it will handle dirt and snow great.

Re: new tires

You can use either the 235/65/17 or the 245/65/17 on any WK. It does not matter what wheel or model you have it was just what ever was included in the specific package your qk came with from the factory. They are both options and either will work fine. The 345 is just a bit wider thats all.

Re: new tires

Im also thinking of getting some new tires. I didnt mind the BFG M/T's when my commute was 3 miles a day, but now it's 40 miles and the ice/snow will be he in Cleveland soon. Im actually thinking of getting some new rims as well.

Just a quick question, its my understanding the stock chrome clad limited wheels have an offset of 6.25" If i get wheels with a 4.5" backspace that would essentially have the wheels stick out approx 1.75" right? Im running 1.5" spidertrax now so the extra .25 wouldnt be a problem

I really want to get an A/T that has an aggressive looking sidewall and performs well in the ice/snow. Tire rack has silent armors for $111 in a 255/75 but they arent the coolest looking tire. I really love the way the walmart Wrangler Authority's look but based on what i've read online i guess i should be leery of a walmart only tire? Plus they arent cheap at $196ea. For that money i'd go for the kumho Road venutres, but then im back to an MT

I just looked up the General Grabber AT's, they actually dont look bad at all, maybe that's the route to take

Re: new tires

I replaced the original Goodyear SRAs in June with a set of Firestone Destination ATs. Put about 6K miles on them so far and am very happy with them. They have a pretty aggressive tread but they are quiet. They handle MUCH better that the SRAs. The SRAs went pretty well in heavy snow even though well worn and not a really aggressive tread and so I expect these to be even better.

Re: new tires

555ctsv, I am getting Hancook Dynapro atM RF10s. They are an AT that looks a bit beefier and are supposed to be a great tire and i can get them at a great price since i work at a tire shop. The revies are great too.

Re: new tires

What size hankooks are you going to get? I'm thinking 265/70/17 but do I want the P ($134) or the LT ($170) tire? I assume LT but is it worth the extra $$?
