New transfer case and more

So the grand has had the "Service 4WD System" yelling at me for about 6 months now. Took it in and they ran the code, diagnosed it... needs the transfer case replaced due to "transfer case clutches worn." That's fine... thank god I got the extended warranty and paid a little extra for 4X4 Coverage. I mentioned, just because I could, that ive heard this ticking noise on the driver's side since I've owned it.

Everyone always told me that it was hemi tick, or the exhaust manifold bolt... or something. But never could trace it or fix it. Finally someone found it, supposedly (we'll see when I pick it up) but they found a leak at the pinion seal and something inside the differential was clicking... something like that. Made sense to me lol. So it's been a week, hopefully I can pick it up today. Everything but diag, shop supplies, and tax is covered by warranty, so I'm happy so far.

I've got the same issues, down to the tick. Also have the life-time power train warranty. My holdup is the warranty company wants me to provide them with every receipt... which I have, but haven't scanned in. Maybe your post will inspire me to get off my ass and get this handled.

Re: New transfer case and more

Hopefully your experience is better then mine if you get the work done haha. No fault of the technician or the dealership, but the transfer case was coming from Colorado to Maryland, got stuck at UPS for 3 days and no one at UPS knew why. Finally after a phone call to management and the dealers own personal freight driver goes to get the transfer case, it arrives re-boxed with dents in the casing, gaskets missing, studs bent.... they had to call and return it and now im waiting a second week for a new one. At least im in a loaner vehicle (Jeep Compass....)

Re: New transfer case and more

My 2014 Grand Cherokee 4x4 with the 3.6L has always had a tick. Now I have started noticing an interment leak of red fluid. I thought it was transmission fluid but it is leaking from between the transfer case and the front left wheel. I made an appointment for next week. I have 25k miles so at least it is under warranty. I also am having them fix the automatic high beams control that has never worked.
