no egr

I recently replaced a blown 3.7 motor in my wifes jeep. My hang up is that the new motor did not have an egr routed in the driver's side head. As an expected result, I'm getting a EGR code and Lean codes. My issue is that the computer tuning company that said they could help me reprogram the pcm, has left me stranded for a month as the jeep remains parked.

My question is how harmful would it be run the jeep with a lean code? will the pcm relearn and adjust fuel injection accordingly?
